The relationship between air and water pollution
It is easy to see the pollution of the environment if it is garbage and litter that is floating around on the ground. It is more difficult to spot the pollution of the water and the air. Well, it is of course easy, if the air is full of visible black smoke from a factory chimney, or if the smell from a chemical factory can be sensed miles away; or the river and lake is floating with dead fish. But the real threat are the less visible dangers of the changing balance of air and water.
Greenhouse gasses and CO2 emission is not immediate visible, but maybe this invisible pollution is even more dangerous than the visible garbage and chemical waste. A similar hidden pollution of water takes place when polluted water find its way to the groundwater; the nature can only handle the rinsing of water to a certain point, and some chemicals are not filtered by the nature but end up in the drinking water.
The oceans cover two thirds of the Planet Earth’s surface, but in the worst scenario the sea level will rise considerable, changing large land areas to water.
But even worse than inhaling polluted air and drinking unhealthy water, is the effect that the greenhouse gasses and the CO2 emission has on the oceans. The oceans cover two thirds of the Planet Earth’s surface, but in the worst scenario the sea level will rise considerable, changing large land areas to water. The country Maldives in the Indian Ocean will most likely cease to exist because of the very low altitude of the isles. The rising water level of the oceans might not in itself be pollution, but is rather a result caused by pollution.
Sceptic, who denies the consequences of climate change caused by the global warming, will claim that this isn’t true (they might even claim that the whole discussion about the environmental problems is another example of a global conspiracy theory). Well, they are very welcome to participate on this blog; and hopefully we will get a sober debate on climatic issues.
Before the debate is being opened for any viewpoint (pro or contra) let me then remind about the ongoing melting of the mountain glaciers and the ice caps of as well the North Pole, Greenland, and Antarctic. The polar bears and the penguins cannot speak for themselves; so whoever that wants to be a polar bear or penguin ambassador is very welcome too.
